Finding your way in the new GrasslandTools

Same username and password, the same farms, every walk you’ve ever done. Things have moved, and this page shows you where.

Five things to know first

    Your farms are all here

    Nothing needs moving or setting up again. Farms, walks, herds and settings came across as they were.

  2. 2

    The panels are now cards

    The fold-out panels down the right of the old dashboard are cards on the farm’s Overview. Scroll down past the wedge.

  3. 3

    Tabs sit under the farm’s name

    Rotation plan, Print a map, Fertiliser, Soil sampling and Map editor are tabs under the farm’s name, where the old tabs ran across the top.

  4. 4

    Reports are under Downloads

    Walk reports, the growth summary and the derogation report are under the Downloads button at the top of the farm.

  5. 5

    It all works on a phone

    The old app hid most of the dashboard on a phone. The new one shows everything, one card under another.

Signing in

Farms and herds

    With one farm you go straight to it. “Farms” at the top left of the farm takes you back to the list.

    The same Farm ID as before, from the phone app’s settings.

    Name the farm, then draw the paddocks on the satellite map.

    The green card at the top of the farm. “Save as PNG” saves the chart as a picture.

    A tab in the same green card. Pick a paddock on it to see that paddock.

    Pick a day to see that walk. On a phone, the date is in the green band.

    No need to combine walks now. Any paddock a walk missed is grown on from its last reading, if that is 10 days old or less, at the farm’s growth rate. A grazing or silage cut since then starts it again from what was left. The grown-on part of the bar is shaded so it isn’t taken for a measurement. A note by the wedge gives the growth rate used. Combining walks took each paddock’s last reading as it stood, with no growth added, however old.

    Your groups of stock take the place of Simple and Advanced demand. Days ahead and the demand line come from them.

Paddocks and records

    Pick a status, then pick its paddocks on the map.

    Add, rename or delete a block, and pick paddocks on the map to put them in it.

    No need to pick paddocks first: choose them in the form. Every entry can be edited or deleted.

    Spreadings go in here. The Fertiliser tab under the farm’s name has the year’s totals and plans the next round.

    Spring and Autumn are tabs on the card. The Rotation plan tab plans the whole rotation, paddock by paddock.

    You can add notes here now, not only read them. Everyone who works the farm sees them.

Reports and sharing

    Choose labels, blocks and units, then Download PDF.

    Shown once PastureBase sharing is ticked in Farm details. AgriNet works the same way.

Map and soil

    Draw, reshape and rename paddocks. Undo and Redo are at the top.

    “Add sample” enters results. The map and table show them by nutrient and date.

Weighing

Not in the new app yet

A few things from the old app haven’t come across. Here’s what to do in the meantime.

  • Delete Farm / Delete Herd

    Get in touch and we’ll take it off your account.

  • Sharing Groups

    Groups haven’t come across yet. The Leaderboards show how farms in your region compare.

  • Weather

    The Met Éireann weather maps haven’t come across.

  • Blocks Overview

    The small wedge for each block isn’t here. Pick a block in the Block filter to see its wedge.

  • Create a new farm from this block / Create Farm from Map File

    Get in touch and we’ll set the farm up for you.

  • Fix Shifted Map

    The north–south and east–west sliders aren’t in the new map editor. Get in touch if your paddocks sit off the photo.

  • Download soil map

    Downloading the soil map as a PDF isn’t here yet.

  • Pull From ICBF

    Pulling animals from ICBF isn’t here. Paste or upload them under Import data instead.

  • Product Key

    Get in touch to put a product key on an account you already have.
